Uitleg van het kunstwerk op de middenpagina van ANS Voor de middenpagina heb ik voor een beeld uit mijn recente project gekozen, dat gebaseerd is op mijn persoonlijke gedachten en reflecties over de Dood. Het heet 'Grace, Peace and Innocence', naar de namen van de drie nertsen. Ik dacht dat een goed manier om de Dood te illustreren is door middel van de relatie tussen de Natuur en de Mensheid, of de vervreemding tussen Mensen en Natuur. Het beeld vertegenwoordigt het tegenovergestelde van die relatie. Het gaat over de gruwelijke feiten van de bontindustrie, het egoïsme van de mens en zelfs de klimaatverandering. Het meisje is overigens gewoon in slaap gevallen toen ze in het bos liep.

Alpha and Omega:

Over het werk (in het Engels!) My intention is to stimulate someone else's creativity, imagination and prophesising ability of revealing or the need to understand as well as the satisfaction out of it, so that by doing so they themselves complete the function of the visual work.

At first, I explore a problem of primal issue or matter, of great importance for me and my inner wandering. That will be, for example, chosen themes where the indifference plays the main role, as well as the act of treachery, alienation, despair, death, people vs. nature, consumerism or particular episodes from the human history that awaken controversial reflections. Then I charge the image with its subject by composing it out of the elements most characteristic for its nature. This will say populating the image with protagonists and elements taken from well known, common places as for example the fairy tales, the folklore or the animal world. Then I involve these protagonists further into relations and behaviours suitable for the subject and intertwine them into actions dictated by the roles they are supposed to play. I build the scenery by means of inviting and attracting the spectator to take on an observation quest. The image shall have an easy to approach-quality of the visualization, in other words, building the image by the use of familiar, close to our visual reality expression mechanisms. First then the spectator will be introduced to the essence of the visual work as bringing one before a confrontation with their own self. In other words, activate a search for translation of what is observed. I contemplate it as a process of stimulating ones individualism and personal imaginative ability.

Korte omschrijving van recent(e) project(en) Ik heb net de serie 'Axis of Evil' met gekleurd papier in een 'cut-out' stijl afgemaakt, waar de centrale rol wordt ingenomen door de Europese carnivoren. Deze serie was ook te zien op de Illustratietentoonstelling in Stockholm tussen 24 en 28 maart. Heb op het moment een retrospectieve solo-tentoonstelling op Ogilvy-Stockholm en ben onder andere genomineerd voor beste Zweedse illustratie in de categorie opdrachillustratie.
